Paul Pogba could be heading towards an exit from Monaco, with MLS clubs keeping a close watch on developments. The 2018 World Cup winner is in talks over a possible early end to his contract, and several Major League Soccer sides are following the situation closely.

Pogba joined Monaco last summer after serving part of a doping suspension, signing a two-year contract that runs through next season. Both parties are now discussing the possibility of ending that agreement ahead of schedule. If that happens, Pogba would become a free agent and be free to consider offers from across the world.

Pogba has previously been linked with DC United and Inter Miami, two of the highest-profile clubs in MLS. At 33, he still has enormous global recognition, and a move to the United States would match MLS's long-standing pattern of targeting experienced and marketable veterans. No club has confirmed any agreement, but on paper the move appears logical: a player with proven pedigree, major name value and a league keen to attract star power.

A thigh injury picked up during Monaco's pre-season training camp in England this week could delay any move. Interested MLS teams are likely to want confirmation that he is fully fit before making a commitment, particularly given his recent injury troubles. His first season at Monaco was also affected in a similar way, restricting him to only occasional appearances.

Monaco have recently replaced Sébastien Pocognoli with Filipe Luís, a change that could alter the club's midfield plans. New managers often arrive with different priorities, and Monaco may conclude that Pogba no longer fits into their structure. That could open the door to an exit and potentially work in favour of both sides, allowing Monaco to free up space on the wage bill while Pogba gets the chance for a fresh start.

Pogba's recent career has largely been shaped by a doping case. He was handed a provisional four-year ban after testing positive for DHEA in February 2024, linked to a test taken in August 2023. Pogba said the substance came from a supplement he did not know was prohibited. The Court of Arbitration for Sport later reduced the suspension to 18 months, and he returned to professional football in March 2025.

Since then, he has been trying to re-establish himself in the game. Monaco have not made any public comment regarding the reported exit discussions.

Nothing has been decided yet. Pogba's future at Monaco depends on the ongoing contract talks and on how quickly he recovers from his thigh injury. If the contract is terminated and he is fit enough to play, MLS remains one of the most realistic destinations, with DC United and Inter Miami the two clubs most strongly linked with him so far.
