Bihar STET 2026: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has released the notification for the application process for the Bihar Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026. Online registration for Bihar STET 2026 begins on August 17. This exam determines eligibility for teaching at the secondary and higher secondary levels in Bihar schools. The STET comprises two papers: Paper 1 is for teaching classes 9 and 10, while Paper 2 is for teaching classes 11 and 12.
STET Applications Begin August 17
Online applications for Bihar STET 2026 will start on August 17, 2026. According to the notification, the deadline for applications is August 31. Candidates must apply online; offline applications will not be accepted. During the application process, candidates are required to enter details such as their name, mobile number, email ID, and educational qualifications. Subsequently, they must upload a photograph, signature, and necessary documents, and pay the application fee.
What are the eligibility criteria?
Eligibility criteria for the Bihar STET vary depending on the paper. For Paper 1, a graduation degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, along with a B.Ed. qualification, is required. For Paper 2, a post-graduate degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, along with a B.Ed. qualification, is mandated. Additionally, qualifications such as BA-B.Ed., BSc-B.Ed., and M.Ed. will also be accepted, subject to specific conditions related to the subject. Candidates must carefully review the notification regarding educational qualification requirements before applying.
Exam Structure (150 Marks)
For the Bihar STET 2026, both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will carry 150 marks each. The examination will be conducted in a computer-based format. Candidates will be allotted 2 hours and 30 minutes for each paper. The exam will consist of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in total, with each question carrying one mark. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers. The question paper will comprise 100 marks from the relevant subject, 30 marks from Teaching Art/Pedagogy, and 20 marks from general competencies. Regarding qualifying marks, candidates from the General category must secure 50%, OBC candidates 45.50%, EBC candidates 42.50%, SC/ST candidates 40%, differently-abled candidates 40%, and female candidates 40%.
Age Limit and Application Fee
The maximum age limit for General and Unreserved category candidates for the Bihar STET 2026 has been set at 37 years. Age relaxation will be granted to ST, SC, OBC, EWS, and differently-abled candidates in accordance with Bihar government rules. Candidates are required to pay the application fee online. The fee is ₹960 for a single paper and ₹1,440 for both papers for General, OBC, and EWS candidates. For SC, ST, and PH (physically handicapped) candidates, the fee is set at ₹760 for a single paper and ₹1,140 for both papers.
