PAN cardholders no longer need to wait for a physical card to arrive by post, as the Income Tax Department offers an e-PAN—a digital version of the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card. It holds the same validity as the physical card and can be used for almost all official purposes. Whether you have lost your PAN card or simply need a digital copy for online verification, obtaining an e-PAN takes just a few minutes. Here is how you can download your e-PAN card online.

Points to Note:
Keep the following in mind before downloading your e-PAN:

You can download the e-PAN for free within 30 days of a new PAN allotment or correction.
If the 30-day deadline has passed, you will be required to pay a nominal fee.
For OTP verification, you will need your PAN number, Aadhaar number, date of birth, and the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
How to download the e-PAN card online?
Here are two easy ways to download your e-PAN card:

Method 1:
Via the Protean (NSDL) or UTIITSL portal
Open your web browser and visit the Protean e-Gov or UTIITSL website.
Select the 'Download e-PAN' option.
Enter your PAN, Aadhaar number, and date of birth, then submit the request.
Complete the verification using the OTP.
Pay the applicable fee and download your e-PAN card.
Once verification is complete, your e-PAN will appear on the screen as a downloadable PDF file. Note that this PDF is password-protected; you can open it by entering your date of birth in the DDMMYYYY format.

Method 2:
Via the Income Tax e-filing portal
You can also download your e-PAN card directly from the Income Tax e-filing portal.
Open your web browser and visit the official Income Tax e-Filing website.
Select the 'Instant e-PAN' option from the 'Quick Links' section. Select the 'Check Status / Download PAN' option.
Enter your Aadhaar number and confirm it using the OTP sent to your linked mobile number.
Pay the applicable fee and download your e-PAN.
If your e-PAN is ready, a download link will appear, allowing you to save the file to your phone or computer.

Benefits:
There are several benefits to having an e-PAN, such as:

It saves time, reduces paperwork, and eliminates the risk of losing a physical card.
You can use the e-PAN to file Income Tax Returns (ITR), open bank accounts, and complete other financial verification processes.
