A train journey can offer more than mere scenic views, especially when there is an interesting spread waiting for you. Actress Nauheed Cyrusi has shared a glimpse of her food experience aboard the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express.
From the dishes served onboard to the food that caught her attention, her travel diary offered a closer look at what passengers can expect to eat on this route.
The actress was served a cup of hot milk tea with digestive biscuits at 6 AM right after the journey started. At 8 AM she was served breakfast. Although the train has both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, Nauheed chose the vegetarian one. For breakfast she had upma, two slices of white bread, buttered veg cutlet, and french fries with boiled carrots and beans.
The Bombay Begums The actress was also given a vanilla cupcake, but she decided to skip it. She ended her breakfast with a pack of Pass Pass.
Before lunch, the actress revealed they were served with a variety of snacks, including Sneakers chocolate bars, popcorn, and cup-a-noodles. She also ate a peach that she brought from home.
At 1 PM, they were served with lunch, and the menu included steamed rice, daal, aloo sabzi, paneer curry, roti, dahi, and achar. For dessert she had sheera or suji ka halwa, but she did not like it. “It was absolutely a big no no, so I had some dahi as my last bite, and that's all I ate on my 8-hour journey,” she added.
Meals are an important part of the Vande Bharat experience, especially on longer routes. In CC, the catering is functional tea or coffee service, pre-packed snacks, and a basic vegetarian or non-vegetarian meal depending on the journey duration.
In EC, the menu is more elaborate, often including welcome drinks, hot snacks, and a wider variety of main course options. On select premium routes, EC passengers may also be served in multiple courses. In both classes, meals are typically included in the ticket price on longer routes, but shorter journeys may offer them as an add-on.
