New Delhi: The surge of monsoon is clearly visible in the mood of nature at this time. From north to south and from east to west, almost all parts of the country are drenched in torrential rains. While the rivers of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are in spate, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rain nationwide for the coming seven days. Due to the impact of the pressure on coastal West Bengal, the situation remains serious from the Ganga plains to Chhattisgarh and Odisha. These rain showers are not only bringing relief but also trouble for the hilly and plain areas.
Rain will not stop for seven days
In the eastern states, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha will continue to see rainfall for the next seven days. Heavy rain is expected in Bihar on 17th and 18th August. The situation is even more sensitive in the northeastern states.
There is an alert of heavy rains on almost daily basis in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from August 13 to 19. Incessant rains may disrupt life in Assam and Meghalaya.
Danger of landslides in the mountains
There is a possibility of heavy rain in hilly states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from 13 to 19 August. Incidents of landslides and lightning may increase on hilly roads. If we talk about the plains, there will be heavy rain in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi between August 14 and 17.
In Uttar Pradesh, torrential rains are expected in eastern parts during 14 to 18 August and in western parts on 15-16 August. During this period, there will be danger of lightning along with storm, hence people have been advised to remain alert.
Disaster rain in MP, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha
The effect of monsoon is going to be very effective in the areas of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha also. Intermittent heavy to very heavy rains will continue over Western and Eastern Madhya Pradesh between August 13 and 19. Especially between 15th and 17th August, water logging can be seen in many districts of Madhya Pradesh. In Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha too, there is a possibility of widespread rain with thunderstorms and lightning between August 13 and 18, due to which rivers and streams may overflow.
