Health Desk. In today's time, the problem of infertility is becoming a cause of concern for many couples. Couples also undergo mental stress when they do not conceive despite trying for a long time. In such cases, IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is an assisted reproductive technology that can help increase the chances of becoming a parent in certain circumstances.
What is IVF?
In IVF, an embryo is created by mixing a woman's egg and a man's sperm in a laboratory outside the body. The developed embryo is then transferred into the woman's uterus. Pregnancy and the birth of a healthy child are not guaranteed even with IVF, but in many cases it can be an effective option.
Can the doctor give advice?
IVF is not needed in every case of infertility. Doctors may consider IVF in conditions such as blocked fallopian tubes, certain sperm problems, endometriosis, or long-term failure of other treatments. Age and health condition of the couple also play an important role in deciding the treatment.
How is the IVF process?
First of all, with the help of medicines, more than one egg is developed in the woman's ovary. The eggs are then retrieved and fertilized with sperm in the laboratory. From the prepared embryos, suitable embryos are transferred into the uterus. After this the pregnancy test is done.
Success depends on many things
IVF success may vary from person to person. The age of the woman, the quality of the eggs, the condition of the man's sperm, the quality of the embryo and other health factors can affect it. Therefore, any fixed success percentage mentioned on the internet cannot be applied to every couple.
Doctor's advice is most important
Infertility does not mean that it will not be possible to become parents. But before undergoing IVF, the couple should take examination and proper advice from a specialist doctor. The doctor can suggest suitable treatment options like medicines, surgery, IUI or IVF depending on the cause of the problem.
