Are you an Airtel user? Spending most of the day relying on the Rs 299 plan? Worried about not being able to find this plan while recharging recently? Bharti Airtel has brought changes in prepaid plans across India. The company has stopped four recharge plans of Rs 299, 579, 619 and 649 (Airtel Discontinues Four Recharge Plans).
However, users of the Rs 299 plan are informed that instead of that particular plan, there is now an opportunity to take a recharge plan of Rs 349. This means that consumers will now have to pay about 16 percent more for the same service. But the new Rs 349 plan has more data. The previous Rs 299 plan offered 1.5 GB data per day. The new Rs 349 plan offers 2 GB data per day for 28 days. That is, customers will get an additional 500 MB of data per day.
Reduced options in prepaid plans
Airtel has also removed Rs 249 and Rs 299 options from their prepaid range. But there is still the Rs 199 plan, which offers 2 GB data for 28 days. Next up is the Rs 219 plan, which offers a total of 3 GB of data for the same 28 days.
Airtel is not increasing the price of all plans together
However, due to this partial price increase, it cannot be said that Airtel is increasing the price of all prepaid plans. Rather, it can be said that certain plans have been removed and replaced by more expensive options.
The company aims to increase ARPU
ARPU i.e. 'Average Revenue Per User' is a very important metric for telecom companies. It shows the average revenue from a customer.
Airtel's latest strategy is therefore to increase the relative income by offering more data and services to customers. One part of this strategy is to create different price plans based on usage rather than increasing the tariff for everyone. As a result, customers have to spend more than before to get the same benefits.
