Lifestyle Desk – The appearance of nature changes as soon as the rainy season arrives. Greenery all around, cool breeze, cloudy sky and the gurgling sound of waterfalls attract people to come out of the house. This is the reason why the craze for picnics or short trips with family and friends increases during monsoon. However, the joy of traveling during the rainy season becomes memorable only when safety is also taken full care of. Especially if you are going on a picnic with children, it is better to decide some important precautions in advance.

Do not leave children alone in slippery places

During monsoon, slippage increases significantly in hilly areas, around waterfalls and picnic spots. In such a situation, keep children away from strong water flow, wet rocks and sloping places. Explain to them that in order to see a beautiful view, do not go to any unknown path or rock. It is most important to maintain a safe distance instead of taking selfies near a waterfall or river.

Make plans only after knowing the weather

The weather can change rapidly during rains. Be sure to check the weather forecast before leaving home. If there is a possibility of heavy rain, storm or flood like situation, then it is wise to postpone the trip. Before going to the place where you are going, get information about the advisory of the local administration and the condition of the roads.

Keep essential items in children's bags

Keep extra clothes, raincoat or umbrella, towel and comfortable shoes for children on picnic. Staying in wet clothes for too long in the rain can cause problems. Also keep clean drinking water, light food, essential medicines, tissues and first aid items with you. Waterproof pouches can be useful for protecting electronic items from water.

Be careful while eating and drinking

During monsoon, avoid giving outside cut fruits, food kept in the open or unclean water to children. It is a better option to carry fresh and light food packed from home. Keep giving children enough water and avoid giving them too much fried or spicy food.

Enjoy nature, but with responsibility

Do not throw plastic and garbage here and there during picnic. Also tell children about nature and the cleanliness of the surrounding environment. Avoid entering fast flowing water, climbing trees or going on unknown paths in forest areas. The greenery of monsoon and the charm of waterfalls is definitely going to provide memorable moments with the family. With just a little preparation and caution, picnics can be enjoyed safely.
