Paris Saint-Germain have struck an agreement with Parma for goalkeeper Zion Suzuki (23), according to a report by Fabrice Hawkins. PSG are set to pay around €35 million to sign the Japan international, who is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
His impending arrival raises fresh questions over the future of Lucas Chevalier (24) in the French capital. The France international joined PSG from Lille OSC last summer as the replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma, but a run of poor performances eventually saw him lose the No. 1 spot to Matvey Safonov, as well as his place in the France national team squad as third-choice goalkeeper.
The positive news for Chevalier is that Suzuki is not currently expected to feature in PSG’s squad next season, with Les Parisiens planning to send him out on loan. Juventus are said to be one possible destination for Suzuki, although Hawkins reports that they are not the only option under consideration.
