Liverpool target Bradley Barcola has agreed to a long-term contract with the Reds ahead of his proposed big-money move.

Liverpool have settled personal terms with Bradley Barcola on a five-year contract.

After spending more than £400 million last summer, the Reds have taken a measured approach in this transfer window under new manager Andoni Iraola, bringing in Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet for relatively modest fees before confirming the loan signing of Uruguay defender Ronald Araujo.

However, with Liverpool's top target Barcola now having agreed terms, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the 20-time English champions appear to be moving closer to what could become another £100 million signing.

According to Tavolieri, Barcola has agreed to join Anfield on a five-year deal, with Liverpool now only needing to reach an agreement on a transfer fee with Paris Saint-Germain to complete the move.

With PSG targeting Ajax youngster Mika Godts - and the Belgian having been withdrawn from de Godenzonen's Eredivisie match of the season on Sunday - any departure for Barcola could depend on the European champions securing a replacement.

PSG are also believed to be close to finalising a move for World Cup final hero Ferran Torres as they aim to win a third straight Champions League title.

Tavolieri had posted last year on X, formerly Twitter, that Liverpool had a bid for Barcola turned down and that the eventual fee would be more than €100 million. That came after the Alexander Isak saga last season, when the Swede moved to Merseyside for about £125 million.

FourFourTwo understands that the Reds have been unwilling to pay the full asking price for Barcola and are trying to negotiate PSG down from an initial €140 million valuation, although an agreement in principle on personal terms will undoubtedly strengthen Liverpool's position.

The French forward joined from Ligue 1 rivals Lyon in 2023 and has won two European titles since arriving, making 152 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain and establishing himself at international level with France.

But there has long been a sense that the 23-year-old is not a central figure in a forward line that also includes Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele, while fellow Frenchman Desire Doue has displaced Barcola from the starting XI in the last two Champions League finals.

Although Barcola has made 45 Champions League appearances during his time in Paris, only 31 of those have come as a starter.

At Liverpool, Iraola will already have players such as Victor Munoz, Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Florian Wirtz as options on the left wing, while he must also think about how to replace Mohamed Salah on the right.

Barcola is valued at €90 million by Transfermarkt. Liverpool begin their Premier League season against Newcastle United.
