Manchester United are looking to add a new full-back before the transfer window shuts.

Manchester United have started moving away from Lewis Hall as the club continue to follow their recent transfer approach.

It has been a careful summer at Old Trafford, with only Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos signed so far — both for less than £50 million — while players such as Matheus Fernandes have been considered beyond the club's budget.

That could remain the pattern in the final weeks of the window, with long-time Manchester United target Lewis Hall also potentially proving too costly.

According to The Sun, United have opened discussions for Club Brugge full-back Joaquin Seys as they look at lower-cost options in the full-back positions.

Seys was part of the Belgium side that reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup over the summer, and with a reported price tag of just £30 million, he could offer very good value for money.

The Red Devils have identified left-back as an area where the squad could be improved, with Luke Shaw the club's longest-serving player and injury problems having affected him throughout his career.

Although he played in every Premier League match last season, the 31-year-old had featured only seven times in the previous campaign and has completed a 30-game season only three times across 12 seasons.

FourFourTwo understands that Hall had been viewed as the ideal upgrade because of his ability to move into midfield, overlap like a traditional full-back and contribute strong defensive qualities. But with United keen to control spending, the England star would likely cost more than £50m, especially after the fire sale that has already taken place at Newcastle United this summer.

Seys is an exciting 21-year-old prospect who has already played in the Champions League, made six appearances for his country and is drawing interest from clubs including Liverpool and Chelsea.

United may also want to consider that Patrick Dorgu could emerge as the starting left-back option, with the Dane having impressed in the Premier League so far — though Dorgu has also been used in a more advanced role.

After going out at the first stage in both cup competitions, United played only 40 matches last season, but they will need greater squad depth this time with a return to the Champions League on the horizon.

Seys is valued at €20m by Transfermarkt. United face Hull City on the opening day of the season.
