Indian boxer Narinder Barwal, during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recounted a funny incident from the 2015 World Military Games. Narinder recalled that he faced a Pakistani boxer in that competition. After winning the bout, both players went to the hospital for treatment.
During this, the Pakistani boxer said something to Narendra that made everyone present laugh. When Narendra recounted this story to PM Modi, even the Prime Minister couldn’t contain his laughter.
The first match was against a Pakistani boxer
Narinder Barwal recalled that his first bout was against a Pakistani boxer during the World Military Games in 2015. Given the tense atmosphere between India and Pakistan at the time, Indian military officials advised him not to lose the bout.
According to Narendra, he also received calls from the officials and was told not to lose the match against Pakistan.
He produced a superb performance to win the match, taking a 4-1 lead in the first round and a 3-2 lead in the second .
Both had to go to the hospital after the victory
Despite winning the match, both players were injured. Both suffered cuts on their faces, requiring them to go to the hospital for stitches.
Narinder told that after the match, he and the Pakistani boxer reached the hospital together.
This is where the most interesting part of this story began.
Pakistani boxer said, ‘I started hating the name Narendra’
Narinder Barwal told PM Modi that his coach’s name was also Narendra Rana . The Pakistani boxer took note and, after some thought, told Narinder that he had something to say to him.
After this he jokingly said that his name is Narendra, his coach’s name is also Narendra and the name of the Prime Minister of India is Narendra.
Then he said that he had started hating the name ‘Narendra’.
Narendra recounted this entire story to PM Modi, who laughed out loud.
