Manchester United youngster Jaydan Kamason has received interest over both a permanent exit and a loan move, according to reports.

The 19-year-old caught the eye earlier on the pre-season tour, registering two assists against Rosenborg.

The Daily Mail reports that Southampton are keen on signing the right-back on a permanent deal, while several other clubs have asked about taking him on loan.

As per the report, “The Championship side would like the 19-year-old England youth international on a permanent transfer. Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday have shown interest in the right-back while there are clubs abroad keen to take him.”

After making a strong early impression in pre-season, Kamason has not featured in the latest matches following the returns of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui from their extended breaks after the World Cup.

Even with interest in both a permanent transfer and a temporary switch, the report says United would prefer to keep Kamason at Carrington until January, although no final call has yet been taken.

However, with two international right-backs already available and Leny Yoro also showing he can operate in that role, opportunities are likely to be limited for the academy prospect.

Having made 35 appearances for United’s Under-21 side, Kamason appears ready to step into senior football, but United are not expected to provide that pathway right now, particularly after the club decided not to enter the U21s in this season’s senior-level EFL Trophy and National League Cup.

Still, readiness alone will not decide whether a loan is approved. Kamason struggled with injuries last season, missing the whole of October before suffering another setback in February that ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

As one of the academy’s standout performers in recent years, it would be an unusual stage for United to sanction a permanent sale.

An energetic full-back, Kamason regularly gets up and down the flank and contributes at both ends of the pitch. His direct approach in attack makes him a persistent threat when driving towards the byline, while his pace has also been valuable defensively.

He was arguably the Under-18s’ best player in 2024/25, playing a major role in the side that finished second in the league and reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.

It was in that latter competition that Kamason may have produced his finest display, under the lights at the Emirates, where he went up against Max Dowman. Kamason scored late to force extra time before Bendito Mantato netted the eventual winner.

Unfortunately, an injury-hit and stop-start 2025/26 season halted his progress, which helps explain why the club may prefer to postpone any possible loan move.

Kamason has already made clear that he is open to going out on loan, while stressing that his long-term aim is to succeed at United. “If I need a few loans or whatever, we’ll have to see, but obviously, I’m trying to get to that top level, and that’s Man United. You just have to be ambitious.”
