Amarnath Yatra from Jammu suspended due to bad weather

Shri Amarnath Yatra has been suspended as a safety measure due to rain, landslides, rockfall and other obstacles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and other roads.

Officials said that the Shri Amarnath Yatra from Jammu was suspended on Saturday due to rain and bad weather in Ramban district and some parts of Kashmir. As a precautionary measure, no new pilgrims were allowed to leave from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Saturday due to the prevailing weather and road conditions.

The 28th batch of 1,202 pilgrims who visited the holy cave and stayed at the Baltal base camp were allowed to proceed towards Jammu in 44 vehicles. The returning pilgrims include 867 men, 251 women, one child, 79 sadhus and four sadhus.

Officials are closely monitoring weather and road conditions before allowing further movement of pilgrims from Jammu.
