Will Manav Suthar feel the pressure ahead of his debut tour for India? Former cricketer opines

As India gears up for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka starting August 15 in Galle, all eyes are on Manav Suthar, who has been retained in the squad after his debut against Afghanistan. This will be his first overseas tour, and former India spinner Murali Kartik has shared his thoughts on the pressure Suthar might face.

"Suthar has to ensure that he doesn't get anxious," Kartik told the Times of India. He pointed out that Suthar recently bowled with the Kookaburra ball, which has a flatter seam, during the India 'A' tour in Sri Lanka, which should help him adapt. "He will need to rein himself in at times," Kartik added.

Kartik also emphasized the importance of keeping Kuldeep Yadav fresh, given the intensity of his bowling action. He praised Suthar as a "breath of fresh air," noting that even against Afghanistan, he looked composed alongside Kuldeep and Washington Sundar.

Meanwhile, captain Shubman Gill suffered an impact injury to his right ring finger during practice and missed the tour match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI. His availability for the first Test remains uncertain, adding another layer of intrigue to India's preparations.
