Manchester United are keen on signing Morgan Gibbs-White in the future as a long-term replacement for Bruno Fernandes.

The 26-year-old has been excellent for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, and he has been linked with a transfer in recent seasons. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United choose to make their move for him at a later stage.

Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider: “I’d be very surprised if Man United were to move for him in this window. Maybe in later windows they might do, but they’ve got Bruno Fernandes in that number 10 position, and he isn’t going to lose his place in the side to Morgan Gibbs-White.

“We know how vital Fernandes is to United and there’s no talk or suggestions that he will be leaving Old Trafford anytime soon either, so I think it’s one where United are admirers of Gibbs-White, but the timing is not right for the deal.”

Gibbs-White scored 15 goals in the Premier League last season, and there is little doubt that he has earned the chance to play for a bigger club. A move to Manchester United could be an exciting one for him. They are a massive club and could give him the platform to compete for trophies.

Nottingham Forest are not expected to allow the player to leave this summer, and it remains to be seen whether he moves on next year. He will go into the final year of his contract with Nottingham Forest next summer, and the club will then be under pressure to approve his exit.

Manchester United could be in a position to sign him for a reasonable fee.

Bruno Fernandes is 32 and will need to be replaced over the long term. He has been an important player for Manchester United ever since joining the club, and matching his creativity and goal output will not be straightforward. Gibbs-White has consistently shown his quality in the Premier League, and he could prove to be a very useful option for them.
