RC Celta have announced the signing of Altay Bayindir, with the Turkey international joining on loan from Manchester United and the deal including an option to buy. In an official statement, the club said he is the latest arrival for Claudio Giraldez and pointed to his reliable shot-stopping, physical presence and authority in the air as attributes they believe can improve the squad’s competitive edge.
His move also has a bearing on Valencia’s start to the campaign, as Carlos Corberan’s team are due to travel to Balaidos for their LaLiga opener following the postponement of their first fixture against Betis.
Bayindir, 28, developed through the youth systems at Bursaspor and Ankaragucu before making his mark at Fenerbahce. He spent four seasons with the club and also wore the captain’s armband.
He then joined Manchester United in 2023, becoming the club’s first Turkish player and going on to appear in both domestic and European competitions.
The goalkeeper will now head straight to Celta’s training camp in Italy, where he is set to feature in pre-season friendlies against Sassuolo and Napoli.
