Arsenal youngster Louie Copley has confirmed that he has suffered a ruptured ACL.
The 19-year-old featured for the Gunners' first team against Real Betis, but has now been dealt a major blow after sustaining the serious knee injury.
"Words can’t describe how I’m feeling right now, from making my pre-season debut for the team I’ve grown up supporting to finding out I’ve ruptured my ACL," Copley said.
"The road ahead won’t be easy but I’ll give everything to come back stronger and better."
Copley is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines as he starts his rehabilitation following the injury.
The teenager had been hoping to use pre-season as a chance to impress and push for further involvement with the first team, but his progress will now be halted.
His attention will instead shift to recovery as he aims to regain full fitness and continue his development at Arsenal.
