Goals from Kim Min-jae and Luis Díaz gave FC Bayern a 2-1 victory over Europa League winners Aston Villa on Friday. The Bavarians will wrap up their Asia tour on Saturday before finishing pre-season with matches against RB Leipzig and 1. FC Heidenheim.
Kim, who had played in his home country on Tuesday against Jeju SK, put Bayern in front with the only goal of the first half from Tom Bischof’s free-kick delivery. The centre-back headed in from what appeared to be a slightly offside position.
Luis Díaz made it 2-0 with a superb strike 10 minutes after coming on as a substitute. The Colombian featured from the bench in both matches of the Asian tour. João Gomes pulled one back for Villa, but Manuel Neuer produced an outstanding save a couple of minutes later to prevent Tammy Abraham from equalising.
Neuer, Bischof, Tim Binder and Arijon Ibrahimovic completed the full match for FC Bayern. Sacha Boey and João Palhinha have reportedly been told they do not have a future at the club, yet both were involved again as Bayern stretched their pre-season winning run to three games. The Rekordmeister will bring their stay in Hong Kong to an end tomorrow.
