According to the Hindu calendar, this year, Shivratri will be celebrated on the Chaturdashi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight). This auspicious date will fall on August 11th. This date will begin at 4:54 am on August 11th and end at 1:52 am on August 12th. According to this date, Shiva devotees should celebrate Shivratri on August 11th, taking a vow and observing a fast.

According to the Hindu calendar, Shivratri will fall on August 11th during the month of Sawan. However, Bhadrakaal will begin in the morning and last until 3:22 pm. This raises the question among many Shiva devotees: what will be the auspicious time for Shivratri?

According to religious scholars, four auspicious moments are considered the most auspicious for Shivaratri during the month of Sawan: Brahma Muhurta, Abhijit Muhurta, Twilight Muhurta, and Nishita Kaal. Let’s find out the timings for these four Muhurtas.

Brahma Muhurta – Starts from 5:23 am to 6 am.

Abhijit Muhurat – Starts at 12:06 pm and ends at 12:58 pm.

What to do?

On Sawan Shivratri, devotees should wake up early in the morning and take a bath, then wear clean clothes and perform puja. During the puja, devotees should first take a vow to fast. They should then offer dhatura (sweet celery), bael leaves, and flowers. Offer fruits and sweets as prasad and perform aarti.

What not to do on Shivratri?

People should keep a few things in mind while performing puja on this day. According to religious experts, devotees should avoid offering Tulsi leaves, turmeric, and vermillion to the Shivalinga. Furthermore, broken Belpatra leaves should also be avoided.
