Manchester United have confirmed that goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has completed a loan switch to Celta Vigo.

United said in an official statement: “Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has agreed to join La Liga side Celta Vigo on loan for the duration of the 2026/27 season, subject to registration.”

“The 28-year-old played six games for United last season, his third term since joining from Fenerbahce in 2023.”

“Following his debut against Newport County in 2024, Altay has made 17 appearances in total for the club.”

“Bayindir now heads out to Spain to link up with Os Celestes, who finished sixth in La Liga last season under head coach Claudio Giraldez and are set to compete in this season’s UEFA Europa League.”

“Everyone at United wishes Altay the best of luck for the campaign ahead.”

A previous report relayed that Celta Vigo hold the option to make Bayindir’s move permanent. United have also included a sell-on clause in the agreement.

Celta Vigo will pay Bayindir’s full wages for the duration of his stay with the club.

United’s goalkeeping unit is undergoing a notable reshuffle this summer, with Bayindir following Andre Onana out of Old Trafford.

Onana has completed a return to Trabzonspor, where he spent the 2025/26 season. It is understood that the Cameroon international wanted to fight for his place at United, but chances would have been limited, with Senne Lammens viewed as the clear first-choice goalkeeper.

Lammens enjoyed an outstanding first season in England after arriving from Belgian side Royal Antwerp last summer.

Last month, United announced the arrivals of Karl Darlow on a free transfer from Leeds United and highly rated young goalkeeper Kit Margetson from Swansea.

Dermot Mee and experienced stopper Tom Heaton have both signed contract extensions, meaning they will remain as cover and support.
