Deepti Sharma struck thrice as Sunrisers Leeds secured a comfortable nine-wicket win over Birmigham Phoenix in the latest round of fixtures of the Hundred at Edgbaston on Friday.

With the loss, Birmingham Phoenix became the second side to be eliminated from the women’s competition after MI London.

Deepti registered figures of 3/11 from her 15 deliveries to help Leeds restrict Phoenix to 107 in the first innings. The 28-year-old’s scalps included Annerie Dercksen, Fatima Sana, and Alana King.

The all-rounder was well-supported by Kate Cross, who picked up two wickets while giving away just 14 runs. In the second innings, Phoebe Litchfield led from the front by smashing the fastest half-century in Hundred history (off 20 balls).

Litchfield was at her innovative best, bringing out her trademark switch hits to find the fence 14 times (13 fours, one six).

Sana was Phoenix’s sole wicket-taker, with all the other bowlers, barring Alana, conceded more than ten runs per over.

The Australian’s 71* off 33 balls helped Leeds chase down the target with ease and keep its Playoff hopes alive.
