Brain Computer Reading Technology: Imagine not having to type a message and having your thoughts appear directly on the screen. It sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, but the world of artificial intelligence is now preparing to make it a reality.

American AI startup Conduit is developing technology that can convert human thoughts directly into text. Interestingly, the company is paying people up to ₹5,200 for their brain data to improve this technology.

Thought-to-Text Model to be Created Using Brain Data

Conduit’s goal is to develop an AI model that bridges the gap between human thought and text appearing on the screen. According to Naomi Bashkansky, a researcher involved in this project, the team is developing a thought-to-text model using non-invasive neural data. This means it won’t require implanting a chip or surgery inside the brain. The company needs a large amount of brain data to train this model. That’s why ordinary people are being offered the opportunity to participate in the research so that different types of neural signals can be recorded.

Wear a helmet for 2 hours, talk to AI, and earn money

Participants in this research will have to go to the company’s office and wear a helmet equipped with electrodes weighing approximately 2 kilograms. Afterward, they will have to talk or type with the AI for approximately two hours. The company is paying approximately ₹5,200 for this. However, there is a condition for participation: participants must be able to type without looking at the keyboard. A person can participate in a maximum of 32 sessions. Currently, this program is only available in the US.

Meta and Neuralink are also in the same race

Conduit is not alone in this race for brain-computer interfaces. Recently, Meta introduced its Brain2Qwerty system, which can convert brain scans into text. Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s Neuralink chip implant has already enabled some patients to type and play games simply by thinking. Experts believe that if Conduit successfully implements this non-surgical technology, it could not only prove useful for people with disabilities and neurological diseases in the future, but could also completely transform the way humans communicate with machines.
