Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned all-rounder Hamza Nazar from domestic and international cricket for two years and fined him PKR 1 million. The player is accused of giving misleading information during a visa process. The information provided by Nazar was found to be inaccurate.
An investigation was ordered, and it was revealed that the cricketer didn’t disclose complete and accurate information, and the details provided were misleading, with the player withholding facts during the process.
The PCB had formed a three-member committee for the investigation matter. Nazar was given a chance to explain himself before the members reviewed the evidence and submitted findings and recommendations to the governing body of Pakistan cricket.
After reviewing the outcome, the PCB suspended the player from domestic and international cricket for two years and fined him PKR 1 million.
In a statement, the PCB said that cases to misrepresentation, non-disclosure and the submission of misleading information are taken seriously, saying the act was against honesty, professionalism and responsibility expected from Pakistan players.
“The PCB will not allow any player to tarnish the image and reputation of Pakistan cricket, the board and fans, who follow the game,” the board said in a statement.
Nazar plays for Sialkot Stallions in Pakistan’s domestic circuit.
