Kanpur Superstars have completed their preparations for the upcoming UP T20 League 2026. The team will begin its campaign against Noida Kings on August 15th at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The second leg of the tournament will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from August 28th, with the final scheduled for September 6th.
Following the player auction, franchise owner Ayush Lalwani expressed satisfaction with the team, saying that the management has succeeded in building a balanced team as per their strategy. Lalwani said, “We are very happy with the auction. Our goal was to build a balanced team between batting, bowling, and all-rounders, and I think we have succeeded in that. We have a strong and balanced team.”
He said that the team has a good mix of experienced and young players. Sameer Rizvi will be a major strength in the batting, while Mohsin Khan will handle the fast bowling. Speaking about the role of experienced players, he said, “Our team has experienced players like Karn Sharma and Mohammad Aman. Aman has also captained the Indian Under-19 team. His experience and leadership will play a vital role in the development of young players and strengthen the team.”
Praising the UPCA Speed Hunt initiative, Lalwani said, “This is a great initiative. It gives talented fast bowlers from the state an opportunity to showcase their talent. The UP T20 League provides them with a big platform from which they can fulfill their dreams of reaching the IPL and the Indian team. Such initiatives are extremely important for the future of cricket in the state.”
On the importance of state-level T20 leagues, he said, “These leagues have created healthy competition among players. While opportunities in the IPL and the Indian team are limited, such tournaments inspire young players to consistently perform better. They feel confident that a great season can open doors to bigger opportunities for them. This is the biggest strength of these leagues.”
Expecting discipline and dedication from the players, he said, “I want all players to play with complete concentration, discipline, and commitment. If every player gives their 100% for the team, good results will follow.”
