Significance of Ekadashi in August 2026

Ekadashi is one of the most important fasts dedicated to Lord Vishnu. On this day, devotees worship Lord Vishnu with devotion and faith, seeking his blessings. According to mythological belief, observing the Ekadashi fast destroys all sins committed knowingly or unknowingly. This fast symbolizes the purification of mind, speech, and action. Devotees who observe the fast with devotion are relieved from the hardships of life and attain Vaikuntha, the abode of Lord Vishnu, after death.

Worship method of Ekadashi fast

All devotees observing Ekadashi fast should wake up in Brahma Muhurta, take a bath and clean the house and the place of worship. After this, after offering Arghya to Lord Surya, install the idol of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi or Shri Yantra at the place of worship and start the worship by meditating on Lord Vishnu. After the worship, recite the Ekadashi fast story and offer fruits, sweets, Panchamrit and Tulsi leaves to the Lord. Vishnu devotees observing Ekadashi fast should chant Lord Vishnu’s mantras and Shri Krishna Maha Mantra throughout the day. After the evening Aarti, eat fruits or food suitable for the fast. On the next day of the fast, break the fast at the prescribed time on Dwadashi Tithi and perform Parana.
