WI vs PAK: The Pakistan team has been consistently underperforming over the past few years. They’ve tried hard to win a Test match on foreign soil, but they haven’t been successful. This wait for the team ended against the West Indies. Thanks to Abdullah Shafique, Sajid Khan, and captain Babar Azam, Pakistan defeated the West Indies by 8 wickets in the second Test, ending a long drought. 

Pakistan’s wait is over 

In 2023, the Pakistan team toured Sri Lanka, where they defeated Sri Lanka 2-0 in the Test series. Since then, the Pakistan team hadn’t won a single Test match on foreign soil. The team had lost eight consecutive Test matches on foreign soil. Three years later, Pakistan defeated the West Indies. Babar Azam was the captain at that time, and he remains the captain of the Pakistan team today. Under Shan Masood’s captaincy, Pakistan hadn’t won a single Test on foreign soil. Despite this victory, the series remained tied at 1-1. However, the Pakistan team salvaged its honor by winning this match.

Abdullah Shafiq became the hero of victory 

For Pakistan, number 3 batsman Abdullah Shafique scored an unbeaten 160 in the first innings, remaining unbeaten on 24 in the second. Captain Babar Azam scored 88 in the first innings, and also remained unbeaten on 24 in the second. Bowler Sajid Khan took four wickets in both innings, and also played crucial innings of 30 when the opportunity arose. Justin Greaves performed brilliantly for the West Indies in this series, but he could not lead his team to victory in the second match.
