The domestic stock market witnessed fluctuations throughout the day on Wednesday, the third day of the trading week, after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% for the fourth consecutive time. However, due to buying in banking, auto and capital goods stocks in the last hour, both the benchmark indices closed with a slight gain. Among these, the BSE Sensex could not sustain after crossing 79,000 for the second consecutive day and stopped with a gain of 152 points, while the NSE Nifty rose by 10 points .
Sensex closed at 78,581 with a gain of 152.05 points.
The 30-share benchmark index Sensex of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) closed at 78,581 with a gain of 152.05 points or 0.19%. Although the trading started well and Sensex opened at 79,055.38 with a jump of about 527 points. But this became its highest level of the day and due to increased selling in the afternoon, it slipped to 78,285.74 points. At present, the index recovered to some extent due to buying in the last hour. Among the Sensex- companies, stocks of 17 remained strong while 12 remained weak.
Nifty closed at 24,624.65 , up 9.75 points .
Meanwhile, the 50-share Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed at 24,624.65 with a slight gain of 9.75 points, or 0.04%. During trading, the Nifty also saw the day’s lowest level at 24,497.95 points. However, within the last three minutes, it saw a jump of about 55 points. Shares of 26 Nifty-linked companies rose, while 22 declined.
In the broader market, Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap closed with gains of 0.18 percent and 0.76 percent, respectively. Sectorally, Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty, and Nifty Auto outperformed, while Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Bank underperformed.
UltraTech Cement shares rose the most by 2.04 percent
Among Sensex companies, UltraTech Cement was the biggest gainer, rising 2.04%. NTPC, State Bank of India (SBI), Mahindra & Mahindra, InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo), and Kotak Mahindra Bank also saw strong buying. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HCL Tech, Reliance Industries, and Bharat Electronics remained under pressure.
