Tanvi Sharma began her campaign at the Korea Masters 2026 with a steady opening-round win on Wednesday.

She defeated China’s Yuan Anqi 21-16, 21-15 in just 36 minutes to book her place in the second round.

The 17-year-old Sharma, who won the Taipei Open last week, will next face Shriyanshi Valishetty who defeated Chinese Taipei’s Pai Yu-po 21-15, 21-14 to set up an all-Indian second-round clash.

India enjoyed strong displays in the women’s singles matches as Anmol Kharb also fought to beat Hong Kong’s Lo Sin Yan with 16-21, 21-17, 21-12.

Ashmita Chaliha defeated Japan’s Ririna Hiramoto 22-20, 21-18, while Mansi Singh recovered from losing the opening game to beat South Korea’s Kim Joo-eun 14-21, 21-19, 21-9.

Rakshitha Ramraj also progressed after defeating South Korea’s Yoo A-yeon 22-24, 21-12, 21-13.

Aakarshi Kashyap, however, bowed out in the opening round after losing to South Korea’s Kim Min-ji 20-22, 23-21, 13-21 in a hard-fought 64-minute match.

Mixed fortunes in doubles and men’s singles

In an all-Indian mixed doubles match, Ishaan Bhatnagar and Shruti Mishra beat Sathwik Reddy Kanapuram and Radhika Sharma 20-22, 21-10, 21-15.

India clinched another victory in the women’s doubles as Ritika Thaker and Sonali Singh outplayed South Korea’s Jang Hyun-ji and Bang Ji-sun 13-21, 21-15, 21-12.

However, Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra were knocked out by Japan’s second-seeded pair of Ririna Hiramoto and Kokona Ishikawa 15-21, 13-21.

India’s biggest upset so far came on Tuesday, when the men’s doubles pair of Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and Krishna Prasad Garaga knocked out the seeded Thai pair of Worrapol Thongsa-nga and Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn in their opening-round match.

India’s representation in the men’s doubles qualifying draw saw Tushar Suveer open with a 21-15, 21-12 victory over Canada’s Shaurya Gullaiya before losing 10-21, 17-21 to Japan’s Shogo Ogawa in the qualifying final, falling one win short of the main draw.

On the other hand, Arjun Reddy Pochana and Achutaditya Rao Doddavarapu suffered a heavy defeat to the second-seeded pair of Choi Sol Gyu and Goh V Shem in the men’s doubles opening round, losing 3-21, 10-21.

India’s men’s singles campaign ended in disappointment as veteran Kidambi Srikanth lost to Israel’s Daniil Dubovenko 20-22, 21-14, 12-21.

Kiran George bowed out after losing 15-21 and 9-21 to South Korea’s Park Sang-yong, while Mithun Manjunath lost 11-21, 9-21 to China’s Zhu Xuanchen.

Tharun Mannepalli fought hard before losing 13-21, 21-12, 19-21 to South Korea’s Yoo Tae-bin, while Rounak Chouhan exited after a 21-23, 19-21 defeat to Jeon Hyeok-jin.

In mixed doubles, K. Maneesha and Dhruv Rawat also bowed out after losing 21-18, 14-21, 17-21 to Malaysia’s N. Maisarah and Loo Bing Kun.
