Panchkula: Rainfall is expected to continue in many parts of northwest India in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in several regions, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi and Punjab, in its All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin released on Tuesday.

According to the Meteorological Department, many areas may experience rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Wind speeds are expected in some areas, with gusts reaching 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching 50 kilometers per hour.

Rain from Jammu and Kashmir to Uttarakhand till August 9

According to IMD, weather activities like rain and thunderstorms may continue in Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during August 4 to 7.

Whereas, between August 4 and 9, there is a possibility of widespread rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Chances of rain in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab as well

Active weather is expected in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab from August 4 to 6. During this period, rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, is likely at many places.

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab on August 4.

It rained for several days in Uttar Pradesh too

Rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is likely over western Uttar Pradesh from August 4 to 7 and over eastern Uttar Pradesh from August 4 to 8.

According to the bulletin, heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in western Uttar Pradesh from August 4 to 6 and in eastern Uttar Pradesh from August 4 to 7.

Weather will remain active in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh as well

Weather activity is expected over eastern Rajasthan on August 8 and 9. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over western Rajasthan from August 7 to 9 and over eastern Rajasthan from August 6 to 9.

Talking about Central India, there is a possibility of widespread rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in Western Madhya Pradesh from 6th to 9th August, Eastern Madhya Pradesh from 5th to 9th August and Vidarbha from 7th to 8th August.

Such weather activity is likely to continue in Chhattisgarh from August 4 to 9. Heavy rainfall is also predicted at isolated places here.

Rainy season also in Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha

Active weather is also expected over eastern India for the next several days. According to the IMD, widespread rainfall is expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Gangetic plains of West Bengal, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim between August 4th and 9th.

Rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is expected in Jharkhand from August 4 to 7, in Bihar from August 4 to 5 and in Odisha from August 5 to 9.

Heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands from August 4 to 7, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from August 4 and 6, Jharkhand from August 4 to 7, Bihar from August 5 and 6 and Odisha from August 4 to 9.

Very heavy rain warning in Bihar and Bengal

According to IMD, very heavy rainfall may occur at some places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on August 5 and in Bihar on August 4.

On August 4, extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Rain and lightning alert in northeastern states as well

Rainfall is also expected to continue in Northeast India. Widespread rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in Arunachal Pradesh on August 4th, Assam and Meghalaya from August 4th to 6th, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from August 4th to 9th.

Heavy rainfall at isolated places has been predicted for Arunachal Pradesh from August 5 to 7, Assam and Meghalaya from August 4 to 9 and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from August 5 to 9.

The IMD has also predicted very heavy rainfall at some places in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on August 4.

Extremely heavy rain forecast in Assam-Meghalaya

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya on August 4 and 5.

Additionally, winds of 50 to 60 km/h, gusting up to 70 km/h, are expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from August 4 to 9. Thundersqualls are also possible during this period.

Need to be alert in view of weather alert

According to this IMD forecast, the weather will remain active for the next few days in northwest India, as well as in several states in central India, eastern India, and northeastern India. People in areas prone to heavy rainfall are advised to monitor local weather warnings and avoid outdoor activities during thunderstorms.
