Heavy Rain News: Amid heavy rain in several states on Tuesday, lightning and electrocution caused significant damage. Thirteen people were killed by lightning in Jharkhand, while three were electrocuted in Uttar Pradesh. Several others were injured. The continuous rain has also disrupted normal life in many areas.

According to police, at least 13 people were killed by lightning in the Giridih, Dumka, and Latehar districts of Jharkhand. Eight people died in Giridih, three in Dumka, and two in Latehar. Several people were also injured in the incidents.

Giridih has the highest number of deaths.

Khorimahua Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Amarendra Kumar said that seven people were killed and three injured by lightning in three police station areas of his subdivision in Giridih district. One death was also confirmed in the Bagodar police station area.

Three people were killed and four others, including a child, were injured in separate lightning strikes in the Ramgarh block of Dumka district. Two people were killed and a woman was seriously injured in separate lightning strikes in Latehar.

Three people died in Uttar Pradesh

Three people died from electrocution in Uttar Pradesh. In Deoria, an eight-year-old girl was electrocuted while charging her mobile phone. In Etah, a 10-year-old boy died after coming into contact with a transformer. Meanwhile, 65-year-old priest Roop Chand died after being electrocuted at the Rambagh Dham Amethi temple in Gosainganj, Lucknow. In Marhara town of Etah, a six-year-old girl was electrocuted after touching a public water cooler, but locals rescued her in time.

Rain affects normal life

Continuous torrential rains have worsened the situation in several states. Rivers are in spate in many areas, and waterlogged roads have disrupted traffic. Landslides have been reported in hilly areas, while flood-like conditions persist in the plains. The continuous downpour and lightning have increased public anxiety.
