Barcelona and Ajax have officially finalised an agreement for the loan move of Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The Germany goalkeeper will represent the Dutch club until 30 June 2027, taking on a fresh chapter in his career.

This transfer is the goalkeeper’s second straight loan spell under Michel. After an earlier period at Girona that was disrupted by injuries, the two are now reunited at another major European club, one that has four European Cups in its honours list.

Ter Stegen departs Barcelona after building an outstanding legacy at the club. Since arriving there, the goalkeeper has lifted 21 trophies with the Blaugrana, with the standout achievement being the famous 2015 Champions League success, in which he played an important part during one of the club’s most successful eras.

Having made 423 official appearances, the Germany international ranks as the 11th-most capped player in Barcelona history. He also stands as the club’s second-most capped foreign player, with only Leo Messi ahead of him.

The German goalkeeper now starts this stint in Amsterdam aiming to recover his very best form. Ajax gives him an ideal platform to rediscover his top level and once again demonstrate the quality he so regularly showed at Camp Nou.
