There is good news for students pursuing postgraduate studies. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has initiated preparations to provide financial assistance under the National Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies (NSPG) scheme. Under this scheme, eligible students will receive an annual scholarship of ₹1.5 lakh for a period of two years. The application process will soon commence on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The UGC has urged students and higher education institutions to keep the necessary documents ready in advance and to avoid any errors during the application process.
The application process will take place on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), with the specific dates to be announced later. Benefits under this scheme will be available only to students who have enrolled in the first year of a full-time postgraduate course at a recognized university or college. Additionally, applicants must be under 30 years of age. The UGC has instructed all universities and colleges to ensure their nodal officers verify, approve, or reject applications within 15 days of receipt. This will allow students sufficient time to rectify any errors in their applications before the portal closes.
**Applications for the Ishan Uday Scholarship to Start Soon**
The UGC has advised students to regularly check the official portal, scholarships.gov.in. Applicants should keep their Aadhaar card, academic certificates, bank account details, and other essential documents ready before applying, as incomplete or incorrect applications may be rejected.
Furthermore, the UGC announced that applications for the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme for students from the North-Eastern states will also begin soon. Under this scheme, eligible students will receive financial assistance ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹80,000 annually, depending on their course. This scholarship will be provided for a duration of three to five years. To qualify, students must have passed Class 12 from the North-Eastern region, be enrolled in the first year of a regular undergraduate course, and have a family annual income not exceeding ₹4.5 lakh.
