Keep the smooth side of the Belpatra facing the Shivalinga.
Sandalwood or turmeric should not be applied to the Belpatra.
Chanting the mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” or “Tridalam Trigunaakaram…” during worship is considered auspicious.
