The ongoing saga over Yan Diomandé’s future has taken another twist. Responding to the speculation of the past few days, RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer firmly denied that the Ivorian forward’s move to Real Madrid has already been finalised, telling Sky Sport Germany that they have “not yet reached that stage.”

After coming back to training following his post-World Cup break, the 20-year-old did not travel with the German side for their training camp in Austria. While a medical issue was officially cited as the reason, Diomandé has continued to train on his own in order to avoid any injury that could put a possible transfer at risk. Because of that, the player has still not trained under coach Martín Demichelis.

Along with the absence of an agreement between the two clubs, there is also a complicated legal dispute inside the player’s camp. His former agency, Maxidel Management, owned by Max Gradel, has lodged a complaint with FIFA against his current agency, Roc Nation.

Schäfer confirmed that his formal point of contact is Roc Nation, in line with the player’s explicit request. However, the dispute over commissions and an alleged breach of contract has led to frustration within the Real Madrid hierarchy, who held talks with rapper Jay-Z’s multinational company without knowing about the legal conflict that was already under way.
