Hindu religious texts clearly state that a person’s karma is their dharma. A person who doesn’t follow their karma is not following their dharma either. Conversely, many believe that what is already written in a person’s destiny will happen, meaning that no matter how hard a person works to achieve something, they will receive what is destined for them. This raises the question: does life change through karma or fate?

The Bhagavad Gita and the Garuda Purana are considered extremely important texts in Hinduism. Based on the teachings and teachings contained in these texts, a person can find answers to many questions to life. In this context, these two texts explain many things about karma and fate, which can help you understand whether a person’s future is determined by their actions or by fate. Let’s explore what the Bhagavad Gita and the Garuda Purana have to say.

 What is karma and fate?

Often, when something bad happens to a person, they blame fate rather than their actions. They think that it wasn’t written in their destiny, and that’s why they didn’t get it. But contrary to this thinking, the Bhagavad Gita explains that a person is bound to perform actions; they can never live without action.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna explains that fate is not a permanent destiny. Instead, a person’s destiny is determined by their actions in their previous lives. This means that the fate of this life is the result of the actions of the previous life. In this context, Lord Krishna told Arjuna that one should focus on their actions, not worry about their results. This is what is stated in this verse.

‘You have right to your actions, never to the fruits.

The meaning of this verse is that a person has control only over their actions, not over their results. Its deeper meaning is that the actions we perform in the present determine our future destiny.

What is written in Garuda Purana?

The Garuda Purana is one of the most important texts in Hinduism. It also states that a person’s actions in this life determine their fate in the next. This means that the fate of this life is the result of the actions of the previous life. A person has to suffer the consequences of these actions even after death. These actions not only determine the fate of the next life, but also determine whether a person attains heaven or hell after death. If a person’s actions are bad, they have to suffer the consequences in their next life.

Does the future change with actions?

According to the Hindu scriptures, the Bhagavad Gita and Garuda Purana, a person can change their future based on their actions, because destiny is also determined by their actions. If a person does not perform good deeds, their destiny will not be good. Therefore, these scriptures consider karma to be more important than destiny.
