The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 was conducted on July 2, 3, and 4, 2026. Following a Supreme Court order, passing this exam has been made mandatory to become a teacher in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, it has been made compulsory for currently employed teachers—who have five or more years of service remaining—to pass either the TET or CTET.
Consequently, teachers currently holding these positions are concerned about whether they will be dismissed from government service if they fail to pass the exam this time.
**Job Safe Even if TET is Failed; Opportunity to Pass by 2028**
It should be noted that, following the court order, candidates will not lose their jobs if they fail to pass the TET this time. Such candidates have been granted until 2028 to clear the exam. However, if they fail to pass by 2028 and still have more than five years of service remaining, they could face removal or retirement.
**Category-wise Cut-off for Passing**
Candidates should be aware that distinct cut-off marks have been set for different categories to pass the UP TET exam. The mandatory cut-off marks for each category are as follows:
General Category: Minimum 60% marks (i.e., 90 out of 150 marks)
OBC, SC, ST, and EWS Categories: 55% marks (i.e., 82 out of 150 marks)
**Results May Be Released Soon**
A total of 1,770,714 candidates participated in this exam and are now eagerly awaiting the results. According to media reports, the results are expected to be released this week; however, no official date has been announced yet.
The results will be declared online via the official website: upessc.up.gov.in. After this, all candidates will be able to check their results and download their scorecards by entering their login details.
