Bayern Munich continue to regard Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko as a long-term transfer option as they prepare for the period beyond Harry Kane’s best years.

The Bundesliga champions are not expected to make an immediate move for the Slovenia international, but CF Bayern Insider reports that the 23-year-old remains firmly on the club’s shortlist as part of their long-term plans in attack.

The report states that Bayern see Kane gradually moving into a deeper, more creative role as he gets older, with a more traditional centre-forward then leading the line. Sesko is considered one of the players capable of taking on that responsibility in the future.

Bayern first looked into a move for Sesko in 2024 after Vincent Kompany arrived, but the striker was considered too expensive at the time before he eventually joined Manchester United.

Christian Falk told CF Bayern Insider that the idea of using Kane alongside a more advanced striker is still being considered.

“It is true: There is an idea to give Harry Kane a deeper role as he gets older at Bayern Munich,” Falk said.

“The plan for the future is to sign another striker who can be a Harry Kane successor but also play in a two-striker system.”

Bayern have already added to their attack this summer by signing Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven, which has reduced the urgency to bring in another striker during the current transfer window.

However, the report says Sesko remains a player admired by the German champions. Falk added that Bayern could revisit their interest if Sesko finds it difficult to establish himself consistently at Manchester United, although no immediate approach is expected.

The Slovenian scored 12 goals in all competitions during his first season at Old Trafford and remains an important part of Michael Carrick’s squad.

Bayern, meanwhile, are expected to keep tracking his progress as they continue shaping their long-term succession plan around Kane.
