Manchester United in talks over fifth summer transfer as loan agreement for Altay Bayindir draws closer

Manchester United have now turned their attention towards outgoings after bringing in four new players during the summer window.

According to Faro de Vigo, Celta Vigo are hoping to finalise a loan move for Altay Bayindir in the coming days, with Claudio Giraldez keen for the 28-year-old to challenge Andrei Radu for the No.1 spot next season.

Bayindir, who joined the Red Devils from Fenerbahce in September 2023, has under a year left on his contract at Old Trafford, although United do hold the option of extending it by a further 12 months.

However, Spanish outlet AS report that there is very little prospect of United receiving a transfer fee from Celta, while Bayindir would also need to take a wage cut to make a permanent switch happen.

Bayindir began last season as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper in the Premier League, but lost his place to summer signing Senne Lammens at the start of October and has not featured in a competitive match since then.

He was an unused substitute in United’s pre-season friendly victory over Atletico Madrid on Saturday and appears to have fallen further down the goalkeeping order over the course of the summer.

Altay Bayindir could now be on the move.

Karl Darlow has joined on a free transfer following his departure from Leeds, while experienced goalkeeper Tom Heaton has agreed a one-year contract extension and is expected to continue as the third-choice option.

Manchester United are still active in the transfer market, with their focus now on securing a third midfield signing after the recent arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
