Inter Miami have stepped up their push to sign Kevin De Bruyne in Major League Soccer as the experienced playmaker considers his future in Italy. The Belgium international is reportedly more willing than ever before to make the move to the United States, with David Beckham aiming to put together a historic super-team in South Florida.

Beckham dreams of a new MLS super-team

Inter Miami are showing no signs of easing up in their bid to build a squad packed with global stars, and De Bruyne is now firmly back on their radar. According to Mundo Deportivo, The Herons have revived their interest in the 35-year-old creator, and the Belgian is believed to be looking at a move to MLS more positively than he did during earlier rounds of talks.

As far back as June 2025, according to Nicolo Schira, he had attracted interest from Inter Miami and San Diego FC, and had even held discussions with both clubs.

The Florida-based side have been monitoring the veteran ever since his exit from Manchester City, but he chose to move to Italy at that stage. However, the situation has changed considerably, and the midfielder could leave Naples this summer as he weighs the lifestyle and footballing advantages of relocating to South Florida.

The Discovery Rights advantage

As far back as June 2025, according to Nicolo Schira, he had attracted interest from Inter Miami and San Diego FC, and had even held discussions with both clubs. In spite of strong competition from other MLS teams for De Bruyne's signature, Miami hold an important administrative edge.

The club currently own De Bruyne's MLS discovery rights, a distinctive league rule that gives them the first chance to negotiate with the player if he decides to move to North America. That places them ahead of rivals such as Chicago Fire, New York City FC, and D.C. United, all of whom have also shown interest.

The veteran remains a premium target, although his current contract in Naples and his sizeable wage demands would require a major financial offer to tempt him away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Frustration in Naples

De Bruyne's spell in Serie A has been far from straightforward, mainly because of tactical disagreements with the coaching staff. The midfielder was especially outspoken about the playing style under his former manager, famously saying: "It was difficult for me because Conte has a very different vision of football than I do... We play very defensively. If you score one goal every match in a 5-4-1... That's not so great." That tension eventually led him to admit that he was relieved to see the manager depart.

After Antonio Conte's exit, Napoli's hierarchy have tried to keep control of the matter. Sporting director Giovanni Manna addressed the playmaker's future directly, saying that the club "did not appreciate some of his words" but remains clear about his place in the squad. Manna insisted that "Kevin doesn't have to decide if he's staying or leaving; he is part of the project and will put himself at the disposal of the coach, just like all the other players."

A veteran presence for the Herons

If the transfer happens, Inter Miami would be bringing in a player who is still capable of delivering moments of brilliance on the biggest stage. At the 2026 World Cup, De Bruyne scored against New Zealand, writing his name into the record books as the oldest player to score for Belgium at a World Cup, at the age of 34 years and 363 days. His Napoli contract currently runs until the summer of 2027, which could prove to be an obstacle to any immediate deal.

Even so, the prospect of a fresh chapter under Massimiliano Allegri at Napoli may still not be enough to persuade the Belgian to remain in Europe. With reported interest also coming from Turkish giants Galatasaray, Inter Miami will have to act quickly if they want to land him.
