Date and Significance
The thirteenth day of the bright fortnight of Ashadha will begin at 1:57 pm on July 26th and will end at 4:14 pm on July 27th. Religious belief holds that observing the Pradosh fast removes obstacles in life and fulfills desires. Pradosh fasts falling on Sundays are considered even more fruitful, as they receive the blessings of both Surya and Shiva. Devotees bathe in the morning, take a vow to observe the fast, and remain virtuous throughout the day.
Auspicious Time for Puja
According to pundits, the time for Pradosh Puja is the time after sunset, i.e., Pradosh Kaal. On July 26th, the main auspicious time for the puja will be from 7:16 pm to 9:21 pm. The auspicious and auspicious time will be from 7:16 pm to 8:34 pm, and the Amrit-Sarvottam time will be from 8:34 pm to 9:52 pm. Astrologers say that anointing the Shivalinga with bel leaves, dhatura, and water during this time yields special results. Sunrise will be at 5:39 am, and moonrise will be at 5:12 pm.
Combination of 2 Auspicious Yogas
This time, a rare combination of Indra Yoga and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga is forming on Ravi Pradosh. Indra Yoga will last from sunrise to 10:05 pm. Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga will last from 7:34 am to 5:40 am on July 27th. The most important thing is that both yogas will be active throughout the Pradosh Puja. It is believed that Shiva worship performed during Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga fulfills wishes quickly.
According to scriptures, Lord Shiva performs Tandava on Kailash during Pradosh Kaal on Trayodashi, and this is the time when he is most pleased with his devotees. Therefore, the Pradosh Vrat puja is performed in the evening, not during the day. Only regular prayers and rituals can be performed during the day.
Vrat Method
Those observing the fast should bathe in the morning and meditate on Shiva. In the evening, offer milk, water, Bel leaves, and Datura to the Shivalinga. Chant the mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” and recite the Pradosh Katha. After the puja, perform Aarti and distribute Prasad. On this day, it is advised to abandon ego and worship with true devotion.
