Social activist Tehseen Poonawala is currently preparing for a vigorous movement against the central government over the E-20 petrol issue. In connection with this, he was even placed under house arrest by the Delhi Police. As a result, everyone was wondering whether Tehseen’s brother and BJP leader Shahzad Poonawala would join him in this movement. Tehseen Poonawala himself has broken his silence on all these political speculations and made it clear that his brother Shahzad will not join him on this issue.

When Tehseen was asked about joining his brother during an interview with Jansatta, he bluntly stated that the two brothers do not communicate. Tehseen explained that he learned about his brother’s resignation while he was working at another channel. He said that since they do not speak to each other, there is no question of joining forces on this issue. Tehseen also said that Shahzad is a supporter and follower of Prime Minister Modi, making it completely impossible for him to join the movement.

Detained by Delhi Police in Greater Kailash

Earlier on Saturday, Tehseen Poonawala made serious allegations, stating that just before his planned march and hunger strike against the BJP-led central government’s E-20 fuel policy, the Delhi Police had detained him at his home in Greater Kailash without any written orders. Poonawala had announced on July 27 that he would march alone from APJ Abdul Kalam Marg to Gandhi Smriti on 30 January Marg and then hold a full-day hunger strike on Friday to protest the policy.

Accused Police of Stopping Him Without Any Written Order

Sharing several videos on his official ‘X’ account, Tehseen claimed that at around 9:30 am, just half an hour before he was scheduled to leave the march, several Delhi Police personnel, including female police officers, arrived at his home and prevented him from leaving. He alleged that the police neither showed him any written order nor provided any official documents to detain or stop him. According to Poonawala, police officers clearly told him that he was being stopped because thousands of people were expected to participate in the march.

“House arrest 15 days before Independence Day”

In a video that has surfaced, Tehseen Poonawala can be clearly heard sharply questioning a police officer, asking how he could be detained without any written order. He told the police that there were neither any documents nor any order, yet he had been placed under house arrest. He sarcastically remarked that he was being imprisoned in this manner just 15 days before the country’s independence. Furthermore, the police officer in the video is seen saying that the proposed march could worsen the law and order situation in the area, and therefore appealed to Poonawala for cooperation. Apart from this, Tehseen also made a sensational allegation that the journalists standing outside his flat told him that he was not able to even use the internet due to jammers installed around his house.
