Manchester United came from behind to register a 2-1 win over Atlético Madrid in a friendly match played in Stockholm. After going ahead early, Diego Simeone’s side were undone by the English club’s second-half fightback.
Winger Arnau Ortiz put Atlético in front in the opening stages with a dangerous cross that caught the opposition goalkeeper off guard. Showing sharp movement in attack, Ortiz was Atlético’s standout performer in the first half, while Jan Oblak also impressed by keeping their early advantage intact.
After the break, Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo turned the game in Manchester United’s favour. He first scored from the penalty spot to bring the sides level and then reacted to a save from goalkeeper Esquivel to net the winner and make it 2-1. Late in the game, Hjulmand and Mendoza both hit the woodwork, missing Atlético Madrid’s chance to equalise.
