Fans who have wanted to see the New Girl cast reunite on screen can finally rejoice. Max Greenfield has shared a promising update that suggests the long-awaited reunion is finally moving forward.

During an appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Greenfield, who played Schmidt on the show, teased an official New Girl reunion. “As far as I know, it’s happening,” said the actor, referring to the reunion. He went on to tease that New Girl creator Elizabeth has already written the reunion.

“I’ve seen scripts, she’s written them; they’re amazing. She’s a very talented writer.” And just like that, Greenfield has confirmed the good news for fans.

Debuting in 2011, the sitcom ran for seven seasons, though fans have long wanted to see its characters on screen again in a follow-up.

What have the stars of New Girl been up to since the show ended?

Following the conclusion of New Girl, many of its cast members have gone on to work in major feature films. Zooey Deschanel appeared in 2024’s Harold and the Purple Crayon and 2025’s Merv. She also voiced Bridget in the two Trolls sequels following New Girl’s ending. Jake Johnson has found success in voicing Peter B. Parker in the Spider-Verse films and played prominent roles in TV shows like Stumptown, Hoops, and Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.

Lamorne Morris has played comedic roles in many films since New Girl, including the Jumanji sequels. He will be next seen in Jumanji: Open World. Greenfield has appeared in films such as Promising Young Woman and Unfrosted, but primarily played the lead of Dave Johnson in The Neighborhood. He will be next seen in The White Lotus season 4.
