FC Barcelona has conveyed its heartfelt condolences following the death of the iconic Italian football defender, Franco Baresi. In a message shared on X, the club stated, "FC Barcelona expresses its most sincere condolences for the passing of Franco Baresi, a legend of Italian football and eternal captain of AC Milan. His leadership, elegance, and extraordinary legacy in world football will remain forever in the memory of fans and all those who love this sport. Rest in peace, Franco."

Franco Baresi, who captained AC Milan during the 1980s and 1990s, passed away at the age of 66. Under his leadership, the team secured three European Cups and six Italian league titles. His death was confirmed by AC Milan's official X account. Baresi dedicated his entire club career to AC Milan from 1977 to 1997, becoming one of the club's most revered figures. He was also a FIFA World Cup champion with Italy. AC Milan expressed their sorrow on X, stating, "The entire history of AC Milan is in tears following the passing of Franco Baresi. His example and integrity will be forever etched into the Club's DNA, just as his iconic number 6 shirt is. The condolences AC Milan extends to Franco Baresi's family at such a difficult time are shared by every Rossonero, who feels this loss as their own."

Inter Milan, AC Milan's fierce rival, also honored Baresi, recognizing him as a pivotal figure in the rivalry between the two clubs. He was a key player for Italy, winning the 1982 FIFA World Cup and finishing as a runner-up in 1994. Additionally, he was a Ballon d'Or runner-up in 1989, marking one of the highest individual accolades in football.
