New Delhi: Aadhaar App has crossed 40 million downloads, portraying raising adoption of digital identity services as millions of residents use the platform to update their Aadhaar details, manage security settings, and access other services, as per the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
According to officials, the app emerged as a one-stop digital platform for a range of seriveces to Aadhaar services, including address updates from the ease of home, mobile number and e-mail updates, biometric lock and unlock, and e-Aadhaar download.
The application has facilitated over 11.65 lakh address updates, letting residents keep their Aadhaar details up to date without visiting an Aadhaar enrolment or physical update centre.
The official data also revealed that more than 49 lakh mobile numbers have been updated through the app, whereas the e-mail update feature was rolled out on 1st July, and around 12.5 lakh e-mail addresses have been added and updated through the app.
The government has stated that the services that cost Rs 75 earlier have been made free until 31st December 2026 on the government-backed Aadhaar app.
The ministry said that the Aadhaar App is developed to provide Aadhaar card holders with a convenient, privacy-first, and secure way to show, share, and verify their identity while contributing to enhancing the ease of living under the Digital India Mission for a Viksit Bharat
