New Delhi: Film producer Shailendra Singh has shared an anecdote about Salman Khan, recalling a time when he visited the actor’s home. He revealed that during a meeting, he casually underwent a hair treatment while enjoying a plate of biryani.

Opening up about the incident, the filmmaker and co-founder of Sunburn Festival said that it happened years ago during one of the regular Monday night get-togethers at Salman Khan‘s Galaxy Apartment.

Salman Khan underwent PRP hair treatment

Speaking with Cyrus Broacha on his podcast ‘Cyrus Says’, he revealed that Salman Khan had a unique habit of eating while looking into a mirror.

He said, “In those days, we used to have Monday night parties. He was sitting at the dining table, eating, and looking at himself in the mirror. He likes to eat while looking in the mirror. There’s a small table in the kitchen with a mirror in front, so you’re sitting next to him, but you’re actually talking through the mirror.”

Just then, a “strange-looking guy” enters the room and injects a needle into his scalp.

“He’s sitting there eating biryani—you know Salman, he enjoys his food, especially after a few drinks. Suddenly, this strange-looking guy walks in, puts on gloves, takes out a needle and starts injecting his scalp. I’m watching all of this in the mirror and thinking, ‘What the f*** is going on here?’”, he said.

Curious about what was happening, he asked the actor about it, to which he said, “‘There’s a price to pay to be a star, bro’. He kept eating while the treatment continued.”

He later discovered that the actor was undergoing platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, a hair therapy treatment used for hair restoration by using plasma derived from a person’s own blood.

The filmmaker said that at that time, the treatment was illegal. “So, basically, they take your blood. They fortify it in a lab… That time it was illegal.”

He further revealed that several celebrities, including Hrithik Roshan, undergo the same treatment. He said, “At that time, I didn’t know what it was. I think everyone does it now—Hrithik does it, everybody does it. As you grow older and your hair starts thinning, you have to do these things.”

He also said that celebrity manager Reshma Shetty once pointed out that Salman Khan was going bald, prompting him to look for possible hair treatments, and it was around the same time he visited the actor.

What is PRP treatment?

PRP hair treatment (Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy) is a non-surgical hair restoration procedure that uses a person’s own blood to help stimulate hair growth and improve hair thickness. A small amount of blood is taken from the person’s arm. Then, the blood is placed in a centrifuge, which separates the platelet-rich plasma (the portion containing growth factors) from other blood components.

The concentrated plasma is then injected into areas experiencing hair loss. Platelets release proteins and growth factors that may improve blood supply around hair follicles, encourage follicle activity, and support thicker hair growth. The common treatment takes around 3-4 sessions spaced between 4 and 6 weeks, and results are usually noticed after 3 and 6 months.
