Who Is Playing Lord Vishnu In Ramayana? That has quietly become one of the biggest questions ever since Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana trailer dropped. While the spotlight has understandably been on Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Ram, Yash’s Ravana, and Sai Pallavi’s Sita, one blink-and-miss appearance has left fans completely intrigued. A brief glimpse of Lord Vishnu has sparked endless theories online, with many trying to figure out who is actually playing the deity. Interestingly, there isn’t just one theory doing the rounds.

One of the strongest fan theories points towards Sourabh Raaj Jain. The actor is still remembered for playing Lord Krishna in the television series Mahabharat, making him one of the most recognisable faces in mythological dramas. Soon after the trailer was released, social media users began claiming they spotted him in the brief Lord Vishnu sequence. One X user wrote, “Nope. This is a WIP visual. In reality, Lord Vishnu will look like Ranbir Kapoor by the time the movie releases. They rushed to get this shot completed, which is why it is looking like this.” Another commented, “The major plus point from the trailer is Sourabh Raj Jain as Lord Vishnu. Can’t wait for Mohit Raina as Shiva.” So far, however, neither the actor nor the makers have confirmed whether the speculation is true.

Another section of viewers believes the mystery character is actually Ranbir Kapoor himself. Since Ranbir is already portraying both Lord Rama and Lord Parashurama, who are considered avatars of Lord Vishnu, many feel the makers may have chosen to keep the same face for Vishnu as well. Some fans even pointed out that the visual effects in that particular sequence appear unfinished and suggested the final version may resemble Ranbir much more clearly.

One fan wrote on X, “This is a work-in-progress visual. By the time the film releases, Lord Vishnu will probably look like Ranbir Kapoor.” Ranbir had previously hinted at playing multiple incarnations during an interview with Collider. He said, “Lord Vishnu has different avatars. Lord Rama is one avatar, and Lord Parashuram was an avatar before Lord Rama.” In the epic, Lord Parashurama enters the story before Lord Rama and later confronts him after the Shiv Dhanush is broken during Sita’s Swayamvar. Later, Lord Rama succeeded him. The two even come face to face after the famous bow-breaking sequence during Sita’s swayamvar. Their meeting after Sita’s swayamvar remains one of the most significant moments in the Ramayana. For now, the makers are staying silent, allowing the speculation to grow. Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Ravi Dubey, Vivek Oberoi, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, Saurabh Sachdeva, and several others. The first part releases during Diwali 2026, while the second instalment is scheduled for Diwali 2027.
