In the early hours of Friday, a significant fire erupted at a footwear manufacturing facility located in Payyanakkal, Kozhikode, Kerala. Fire and rescue officials reported that the blaze resulted in the destruction of machinery, electrical equipment, and raw materials.
The fire was first reported around 3 AM at 'Jaisal Rubber Industries', where imported rubber granules and other materials are utilized for producing footwear. Upon receiving the alert, a team from the Meenchanda fire station, led by Assistant Fire Officer Shahabuddin E., promptly arrived at the scene to initiate firefighting efforts.
According to officials, two fire engines worked for over an hour to bring the fire under control. The fire department indicated that the incident resulted in the loss of a 40 HP mixer motor, an electrical panel board, several other motors, a section of the roof, and materials used for footwear production. Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit may have been the cause of the fire, and a detailed assessment of the total damage is currently underway.
