Celebrating Indian Athletes' Success

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya expressed his admiration for Indian athletes Seema Kaliramna and Lovepreet Singh following their impressive performances at the Commonwealth Games 2026. He commended Seema for her bronze medal in the women's discus throw and praised Lovepreet for securing silver in the men's 110+ kg weightlifting category with a total lift of 388 kg.


Seema Kaliramna's Bronze Medal Achievement

"Kudos to NCOE Patiala's Seema for winning the Bronze Medal in the Women's Discus Throw at the Commonwealth Games," Mandaviya shared in a post on X.


Kaliramna showcased her talent in the women's discus throw final, finishing third with a best throw of 58.65m. Jamaica's Samantha Hall took home the gold with a throw of 61.66m, while Canada's Julia Tunks secured silver with 60.67m.


Lovepreet Singh's Silver Medal Journey

"Congratulations to Lovepreet Singh for clinching the Silver Medal in the Men's 110+ kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games with a total lift of 388 kg," he noted in another post on X.


Lovepreet made a significant impact by lifting 212 kg in his second clean and jerk attempt, achieving a Commonwealth Games record total of 388 kg. However, New Zealand's Liti made a remarkable comeback by lifting 223 kg, surpassing Lovepreet by just one kilogram to win gold. This silver medal marks an improvement from the bronze he earned at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
